Collar interlining is not recommended for long-term friction with other rough objects. As a clothing component, the material and craftsmanship of collar interlining determine its durability and appearance. Long term friction with rough objects can have various adverse effects on it.
Collar interlining is usually made of different materials, such as resin lining, adhesive lining, etc. These materials not only ensure the stiffness and shaping effect of the collar, but also have a certain degree of wear resistance, but this wear resistance is relative and not infinite. The surface of rough objects often has many protrusions, burrs, or particles. During long-term friction with the collar interlining, the surface fibers and coating of the collar interlining will be continuously scraped and worn.
For resin lining, long-term friction may cause the surface resin layer to wear out, causing the collar interlining to lose its original smoothness and luster, become rough and fuzzy, and thus affect the appearance and texture of the collar, making the clothing look old and messy as a whole. Meanwhile, the wear of the resin layer may also weaken the stiffness of the collar, causing deformation of the collar and inability to maintain its original three-dimensional shape.
Under long-term friction, the adhesive layer of the adhesive lining may be damaged. The adhesive layer plays a role in firmly bonding the collar interlining to the fabric. Once damaged, the collar interlining and fabric are prone to foaming, delamination, and other phenomena, which not only affect the flatness of the collar but also reduce the comfort and service life of the clothing.
In addition, long-term friction may also cause electrostatic adsorption of dust on the collar lining, further exacerbating the degree of dirt on the collar and increasing the difficulty of cleaning. Moreover, the tolerance of different materials of collar interlining to friction also varies. Some special materials of collar interlining, such as those containing special functional coatings, may experience functional failure due to long-term friction, such as reduced waterproof and anti fouling performance.
